Our Club

  • Excel Synchronized Swimming Club was established as a non-profit organization in August of 2012. The Club began with six national stream athletes who were able to continue training at an elite level in Edmonton under the Excel umbrella. In 2012-2013, the Club also offered a recreational program for young swimmers. During the 2013-2014 season a head coach (Teresa) was hired and four junior national stream athletes competed for Excel as well as the first provincial stream competitive athlete. The Club has grown to be among the largest in Canada, with multiple branches operating successfully in outlying communities of Edmonton as well as the main hub in Edmonton itself. Key milestones of the Club can be found prominently displayed on the club milestones timeline.

  • What people are saying

“My daughter started with Excel when she was only seven. I was hesitant to sign her up because she was young and not the strongest swimmer, but the coaches encouraged us to try. She attended a free trial lesson and loved it! She continues to train today and looks forward to every practice. Being part of a team has created an amazing camaraderie and supportive bonds of friendship between teammates. The headcoach and coaches are encouraging, supportive, positive and enthusiastic role models which is what makes Excel such an exceptional club.”

    -Donna D.

  • What people are saying

“ I migrated to Canada with my family as a Permanent resident. I am glad that I could utilize this opportunity to enroll my daughters to gain quality lessons over this period starting Jan 2022. It will not be possible for us to enroll both of them to a paid swimming lesson which is really expensive and hard to afford for any new immigrant like us. This opportunity truly helped my daughters”

What is LTAD- (long term athlete development model) is a seven- stage training, competition and recovery pathway guiding an individual’s experience in sport and physical activity from infancy through to adulthood. LTAD is a model for development in physical activity and sport that provides a safe, enjoyable, and progressive pathway for children to pursue healthy physical activity, but also provides a pathway to excellence.
